Welcoming Nick Canning as The Huracan Foundation's New Chair
At The Huracan Foundation, we are thrilled to announce the appointment of Nick Canning as our new Chair, succeeding Ian Milligan, whose six years of extraordinary leadership have left an indelible mark on our organisation. This transition marks a new chapter in our mission to empower communities through education and football.
Celebrating Ian Milligan’s transformative leadership
Ian Milligan’s tenure as Chair has been nothing short of exceptional. Over six years, he has driven The Huracan Foundation to unprecedented heights. Under his leadership, we improved governance, built a robust team, and expanded our reach across the globe. Projects in Uganda 🇺🇬, Mexico 🇲🇽, Armenia 🇦🇲, Nigeria 🇳🇬, and even the Himalayas of India 🇮🇳 and Nepal 🇳🇵 stand as testaments to his vision and commitment.
During his time as Chair, we significantly increased funding, enabling us to support 42 projects across 17 countries, positively impacting the lives of more than 4,000 children. Ian also played a pivotal role in celebrating our tenth anniversary in Buenos Aires, where over 30 leaders from nine countries joined for an inspiring week in the football-loving city where The Huracan Foundation began.
"The idea of helping Henry and the rest of The Huracan Foundation team six years ago was one I couldn't resist. Anyone who knows me knows I'm passionate about the mix of sport, education, and its social impact. Time flies, and it proved to be one of my best decisions to get involved. For me, Huracan has always been about delivering impact for those 4,000+ children, but that only happens through the outstanding project leaders we've supported—some of the most inspiring teachers I've been privileged to meet."
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ian for his energy, optimism, and unwavering commitment, which have laid a strong foundation for the future.
