Child case

Name: Gladys Tavengerwei

Age: 17 years old

Project Impact: Gladys joined Huracan FC Girls of Thunder Zimbabwe in December 2023 after escorting a friend to school. Her friend was a member of Huracan FC Girls of Thunder. She herself had never enrolled into secondary school because of her background. She grew up in the custody of her aged grandmother after her mother had remarried and abandoned her at the age of 2. The grandmother could only afford her primary education. After joining Huracan FC Girls of Thunder, Gladys has shown passion in joining secondary school. After realizing it her coaches pulled resources together and fundraised for the first and second term fees of 2024 and are looking forward to continue with mobilizing resources so that Gladys is kept in school. Gladys aspires to become a lawyer when she finishes her studies.

José Lopez, project leader of Huracan FC Castilla

“As a project leader I feel so encouraged and refreshed by the support I'm getting from the Huracan Foundation. Thumps up  to the Huracan Academy and the Developer Tribe by Tim Jones, my coaching skills have since improved and as a person have realised a lot of changes in my leadership.”
