Brambletye School’s charity partner

We’re delighted that The Huracan Foundation has been selected as Brambletye School’s charity partner for the academic year 2020/21.

This is a really special partnership for us – with Brambletye being Henry’s old junior school from 1994 – 1999. A school where his love for football was founded and he was captain of the 2nd XI – an unbeaten team that season, coached by David Holden.

The partnership means the world to David who has kept in touch with Henry over the years and now sees the work of his football captain return to Brambletye. As David says, “Regardless of the pandemic, this is a time to be creative, think outside the box, and implement old and new exciting fundraising events and activities to combat this interference in our lives to raise funds. With this in mind, I invite the whole Brambletye Community to come up with a game plan and kick off the most difficult fundraising match we will ever experience. Stay safe and let’s make this happen for The Huracan Foundation.”

But as importantly we hope that this year will be a real inspiration for the current pupils of Brambletye who will be raising funds for a charity founded by a former pupil.

Over the year we hope to be able to link the children up with our projects across Nepal, Mexico and Uganda, as well as closer to home in London, giving them a real opportunity to hear what challenges the children on our Huracan Projects are facing, what they really need help with and what the funds they raise will be spent on.

This introductory video from Henry to the pupils of Brambletye tells the story of his journey from his time at school where his passion for football really began, through to falling in love with Huracan in Argentina and on to building the Huracan Foundation.

We’d like to say a big thank you to David Holden for championing this partnership with such huge amounts of enthusiasm, and to the support of all the other staff at Brambletye as well as the children who have already been fantastic fundraisers for our work! We hope to make this a record year for both Brambletye and The Huracan Foundation.
